Where in the World is the Elf on the Shelf?

It’s no secret that I love all things Christmas, however I have to admit that the Elf on the Shelf and I have a love/hate relationship. I think so many parents would have to img_7067.jpgagree with me as well. I have had an Elf for years, before I even had a little girl of my own to find the Elf… I just love the fun and Christmas spirit that it brings to our home. Now that I have a child of my own to find the Elf each morning, it’s so much more fun this year!

Although I love that our sweet Elf, Cindy is spending the Christmas season with us… I hate that I am the one that has to be responsible for finding her a new hiding place every night. I usually remember to move her once I’ve settled in bed for the night, and even though my 1 year old would probably not even notice if Cindy didn’t move… I still find myself jumping out of bed to find the perfect hiding spot. If you are like me and forget to hide your Elf too… I’m here to help! Here are 20 of my favorite Elf on the Shelf ideas for you to use this holiday season:

.) baking some cookies (put some sprinkles in a mixing bowl, put the Elf on the counter, and there you have it!)

.) grab some paper & some crayons & have your Elf drawing a picture

.) playing a board game with some other toys

.) toilet paper the Christmas tree (my favorite!)

.) taking a snooze on a marshmallow bedenhanced-buzz-19738-1386005958-0

.) Elf on strike (when the kiddos are misbehaving, keep your Elf in the same place with a sign that says “on strike”)

.) making a snow angel out of sugar

.) hiding in an unusual place (for those super last-minute hides)

.) reading a Christmas book

.) hiding in the fridge with the milk (use food coloring and turn the milk green or red for some extra added fun)

.) taking a bubble bath in mini marshmallowsdcb80fdeeb1ff22f5d3a969d1af36f1a

.) draw silly faces on framed photos with a dry erase marker

.) un-decorating the Christmas tree

.) deliver a Christmas book that you can read with your kids

.) drinking syrup out of a straw

.) sit your Elf on the couch watching a Christmas movie

.) eating candy (you could put him in a bag of Christmas m&ms)

.) hiding in a stocking

.) gift wrap the toilet

.) on the last day (Christmas Eve) have your Elf with his bags packed, ready to go back to the North Pole for the year

Whenever you feel like you’re in a bind and can’t think of an idea for your Elf, just refer back to this post! What are your favorite Elf on the Shelf ideas? Let me know in the comments!
