I didn’t even know National BBQ Month was a thing, but since I’ve found out that it is, I thought I’d share a recipe I tried a few weeks ago. It’s not necessarily a barbecue recipe, but it’s a side that you can serve with barbecue, so close enough.
I found this recipe and made some changes, and it is delicious. I highly recommend these, and they’re a perfect pairing when you’re cooking on the grill. I don’t have a fancy name for them, so let’s just call them Really Good Baked Beans.
- 3 large cans of pork and beans (just any regular brand from the store)
- 1 large sweet onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 8 slices uncooked bacon
