Welcome back to The Crush! Today I’m going to share with you 6 healthy tips for your bedtime routine. I’ve been working on adding these into my nightly routine so I can focus on getting to sleep quicker and wake up feeling well rested!
Everyone know that the last few things you do before bed has a big impact on your overall health. They can effect your energy levels, your mood, and how you feel going into the next day. Getting plenty of rest is super important and a key to being more productive each day!
1.) Shower – The warm water from the shower will help you wind down and will help make you sleepy. I also love to take a bubble bath, but I don’t have the time to do that every single night; so a hot shower helps as well. If you shower each night, your brain will start to realize that it needs to start winding down.
2.) Look over tomorrow’s to-do’s – Take a quick minute to look at your planner and to-do list for the next day. That way you’ll know exactly what’s coming, and you won’t have to rack your brain trying to remember “hmm… what do I have to do tomorrow?”
3.) Be grateful – Always end your day on a positive note and reflect on the best parts of each day. If you’re happy when you go to bed, you’ll rest better. I like to think of 3 things that I’m grateful for from that particular day.
4.) Put your phone away – I have a bad habit of playing on my phone up until I fall asleep. I have read so many articles about how bad this is, so I’ve been trying to do better. I have read that after you put your phone away, it takes one hour for your body to wind down to sleep-mode. I’ve been trying my best to relax at bedtime and not overstimulate my brain and eyes with the bright phone light and scrolling social media.
5.) Family time – There is nothing I love more after a long day than spending time with my family! Eat dinner together, play with your kids, watch a movie… anything! Even the most simple things help you to “reset.”
6.) Drink water – I feel like water is like the secret to life. No matter how you’re feeling, I’ve noticed “drink more water” is always the answer. I have started drinking a big glass of water before I go to sleep each night. Drinking water helps improve sleep and also helps speed up your metabolism while you’re sleeping.
What does your nightly routine consist of? Try incorporating these habits into your routine each night, and let me know how they work for you!
